A high score with your website in Google PageSpeed Insights
A high score with your website in Google PageSpeed Insights

Recently Google has set the bar a lot higher with the tool PageSpeed Insights. Websites that previously achieved a reasonable or high score dropped significantly in score. Google clearly found it time to increase the pressure on website builders. A challenge that we gladly accepted.

Fast loading website images

Most of the speed of your website depends on how quickly large files are loaded. These are mainly the images, but also css and javascript files count. Google takes the speed of loading this kind of files into the score.

To be able to load files faster we have, among other things:

Decrease images sizes

Images are automatically scaled to the ideal size. This is done by the front-end editor. You do not have to do anything yourself.

Remove unnecessary information from the images

There is a lot of extra information in images that you do not immediately see. For example where the image was made, under what circumstances, with which camera settings. To make the files as small as possible, all this information is removed from the files.

Compress images and files

Images and files are automatically compressed on the server. As soon as they are viewed by a visitor, the files are unpacked by his / her browser. For example, the files that the visitor has to download are much smaller. This can lead to a 90% smaller image!

Cached images and files

When you visit a page for the second time, you have already downloaded the images and files that belong to it. You do not have to do this again, unless the images or files have changed.

To see if the images have changed, your browser uses the information for that image. It shows how long the image is (probably) not changed. With our latest update we announce that images will never be changed again. Then you never have to download them again. A lot faster!

Are you adjusting the design of your page? Then we automatically put a new image down. In spite of the cache, your change nevertheless be seen by all visitors.

Build a page at lightning speed

If all images, css and javascript files are loaded quickly, the page itself remains. For loading times Google sets very high requirements: within 200 milliseconds.

To achieve this we have applied all the technical tricks we could find. The main improvements are to prevent unnecessary code execution and to remember the result of code that has already been executed so that it does not have to be executed again.

The results are impressive. Most pages now load within 200 milliseconds. The speed remains dependent on the complexity of the page. But an ordinary page, news article or blog falls under that limit.

Only load Javascript and css if necessary

As a website becomes more extensive, more files and delaying codes sneak in. Fine if they are necessary, but that is not always the case. Unfortunately this was also the case with our websites. That is why we have added a series of checks that ensure that files are loaded only on pages where they are really needed.

The result in Google PageSpeed Insights

Nice story, but what's it to me? Very simple: if you already have a Webanizr site you do not have to do anything. Get the website through the google speed test and research the results:

Do you not have a website in Webanizr yet, but would you also want to achieve such scores? Then start a website in Webanizr or switch. Or try it for free:
